A microblog dedicated to the Montreal Canadiens

CANADIENS | BULLDOGS | NAILERS

Jagr to detroit likely will not happen. It’s between Montreal & Pittsburgh, the Pens have yet to put in an offer, but have until friday to do so as he cannot sign before July 1st

Whoever runs that tumblr is a retard. Pittsburgh doesn’t have until friday to put in an offer. Nobody can put in an offer until Friday because thats when Free Agency begins.

I doubt the habs resign Hamrlik.

We already have signed:

Subban, Emelin, Spacek, Gill.

We still have to sign:

Weber

Gorges

Markov

That fills out our 7 D. We can only afford Hamrlik if Spacek goes, and even then it doesnt exactly seem like a smart move.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Everyone needs to chill about the Heritage Classic

The Heritage classic was nothing special. All it was was an outdoor game. There was no HBO series for it, no huge advertising, no hype, nothing. It wasn’t a big deal. The only difference between the heritage classic and a regular season game was the fact that the ice was shitty and the players froze their nuts off. I wont miss it.

Bye Tumblr

Too many puck bunnies. Not enough intelligent hockey talk.

On David Desharnais’ comments on L’Antichambre tonight.

I thought David brought up a very good point on the show tonight. He said that the NHL solved hooking and holding and it sped the game up, now in a half second its impossible to think if you have enough time or not.

Max Talbot likely using Canadiens as a bargaining chip

Few thoughts on Max Talbot and his free agency…

In my mind, Max is simply using Montreal to draw attention to his pending free agency. I believe he’d truly like to stay in Pittsburgh but won’t bend over backwards to stay.

If Max did become a FA and came into talks with the Canadiens organization, whose spot does he take? He doesn’t fit into our top 6. Our bottom 6 will have to include Eller, and Moen, and will likely include both Desharnais and Darche. This leaves 2 spots to be filled by: White(RFA), Halpern(UFA), Pyatt(RFA), and Pouliot(RFA).

Also included in that pool are prospects like Andrew Conboy, a gritty forward with good skating and size, who also can chip in offensively, and Andreas Engqvist, a defensive forward, strong in his own end, the faceoff circle, and also chips in offensively. Both forwards are under contract until 2012-2013.

Could the Canadiens use Max Talbot? Right now, yes, but there are too many players waiting in the wings to make the jump, and Talbot simply does not fit into the equation.

Time will tell..

NHL and Double Standards

Last night, Nathan Horton was destroyed by Aaron Rome a second after sending a pass to Milan Lucic. Horton was caught admiring his pass, and Aaron Rome recognized it and stepped up on Horton.

The hit was late, the player did not have the puck on his stick, and the player was in a vulnerable position. All 3 of these factors are the same as the Max Pacioretty incident. Both players were transported to hospital and diagnosed with severe concussions, while Max Pacioretty also had a broken vertebra as a result of the hit. So why did Zdeno Chara get off without a suspension, while Aaron Rome will miss the rest of the Stanley Cup Finals due to a 4 game suspension.

Is there a Boston bias due to the fact that the NHL’s Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, has a son playing on the team? My gut says no, but how can you explain the fact that Chara got 0 games for his hit during the regular season, and Rome gets 4 games in the Stanley Cup Finals?

Louis Leblanc speaks to the Montreal media on his shoulder injury.
